Olympic champion Elena Dementieva started 2009 as a woman on a mission, but has since failed to build on her early-season triumphs.
Wins in Auckland and Sydney saw her head into the Australian Open as one of the favourites, but a semi-final defeat by Serena Williams in Melbourne ended her winning start to the season.
The Russian failed to dazzle at Roland Garros - defeat by Samantha Stosur in the third round ensuring her wait for glory on the red stuff continues.
The 27-year-old has gradually improved on grass and will return to Wimbledon in confident mood having lost to eventual winner Venus Williams in last year's semi-finals.
